I Want President Obama to Fail

I'd never hope the person who runs my country fails. I just think that not only had he better have a complete idea of what he's doing, but that he'd better realize that anything he does wrong will haunt him and his family for the rest of their lives. Everyone's watching, and everyone's lives are in his hands.

I know that he's bright and I trust that he understands what his actions will do to EVERYONE, not just those he screws over in the process. I'm always going to keep out an eye just in case he falls off the road, but I will never hope that he outright fails at anything.

Ah, Anonymous. What is your definition of success?

First of all, this is not about President Obama or his family. This is about the country. Quite honestly, while I would not wish him or his family any harm, and, indeed, I wish them well in their personal lives (especially those adorable little girls), I don't really associate the presidency as being about him or his family.

I do not define success as someone succeeding at what they want to do, especially a president. I define success (for the president) as accomplishing the best thing for the country. So far, I haven't seen anything President Obama's done that I believe will lead to success for the country. Ergo, I hope he fails at the things he wants to do with our country.

I do disagree, sorry Kristina, which is not to say that I agree with every Obama issue. I prefer to say I hope certain issues fail or his initiatives fail, to wish for a person to fail wishes for us all to fail. By saying you wish him to fail, it makes it sound like him personally, not his agenda. (and I guess I'm labeled mid- "progressive" or "liberal", so that may explain my feelings about this).

I don't think that you need to HOPE he fails, it is inevitable...
