Confessions of a Purse Stuffer

Ask anyone who knew me as a child, and they can tell you that my purse was always very heavy. If they had a look inside, they could tell you why. I always had a ton (hee, hee) of stuff in there. Frequently, I had whatever you could want.

I especially remember what was in my purse in fourth grade. I remember because I used that purse to hit a boy in the head when he wouldn't leave me alone. It was carrying a box of crayons (24 ct.), glue, safety scissors (thankfully), and most importantly, a golf ball I found on the playground that day. He was forever more afraid of my purse.

As an adult, I carry other things in my purse. In the past, I have carried party size play doh, cookie cutters, and a rolling pin for my young children. This was a great deal when they were little. In fact, I may add a container of play doh for Dominic. It certainly helps during a trip to the ER, a frequent occurrence with that kid.

A couple years ago, the boys bought me a new purse. I really liked my new purse, but it was small. Now, don't get me wrong, I really prefer a small purse. But, it doesn't carry everything I want it to. So, when I noticed that my purse was starting to wear out, I requested a new one for Christmas. Then, I started dropping hints about what I wanted to be able to fit into my purse. The boys came through for me. Here are my new purse and its contents.

Very stylish, no?
This is what it all looks like inside. This is what's inside.I know you thought this was a glasses case, but in fact it's a nifty bag my mom gave me for Christmas. Cool, huh?
No purse would be complete without a first aid kit. Mine is, perhaps, a little more thorough than most peoples'.

The contents, in order left to right, top to bottom:
1st row: gauze pads, tape, Tylenol, emergency blanket, aspirin, first aid book,
2nd row:poncho, ace bandage, bandages, light stick, face mask
3rd row: Neosporin, hand sanitizer, tweezers, safety pin, alcohol wipes, bandages, gauze pads, motrin, latex gloves, and a stick thingy (you didn't expect me to know what everything was called, did you?)
There is one thing I need. I need to get some hand sanitizer. This has not been a biggy on my list. I'm of the opinion that kids need germs to help their immune system. However, I would like to have some for after Taekwondo. I think it will help prevent them from getting sick. We're touching things that hundreds of other people touch each day, then we shake hands with everyone. It's a very germy proposition, in my opinion. Anyway, I don't know if I'll ever get around to getting it, but it's a thought.

How about heading to the restroom right after class and washing with soap and water?

I keep a first aid kit like that in the car. If I carry a purse (a big IF), I have my small wallet (holds about 5 cards) and my keys. Maybe lip balm. I have a big wallet in the car wiht all that other crap I only need once in a while. Diapers and wipes - in the car. I'm a minimalist.
